How do I train PerfectMail? How do I report spam? How do I get messages blocked that seem to slip through the filters?
The best way to stop spam from getting through your system is to report it to both your local PerfectMail server and our Central Analysis Queue. We work through the spam analysis queue on a regular basis, updating the filters to help stop spam messages.
There are a number of ways of doing this:
- Best way: Using the user interface: Select the messages using "E-mail=>Mail Log" via the check boxes and click the "Report Messages as Spam" button at the bottom of the page. This helps train the local filters and will forward messages to our central spam analysis queues. This is the best method because it ensures mail headers and addresses are maintained.
- Forward spam messages to email@example.com. This forwards messages to our central spam analysis queue where spam profiles will be created.
- Forward spam messages to your local server using spam@your_server_hostname. You need to ensure the hostname is locally resolvable from your mail server. Messages forwarded to your local server will help train your local server. These messages will also be forwarded to the central spam analysis queue.
- Submit spam to our Analysis Queue using our web based spam submission form at http://perfectmail.com/spam_submission
